The knowledge graph

Rules, requirements, documents, templates and data fields, how they connect and the original documents behind them.

Company Brain, Knowledge graph lists the nodes of your company graph: each "Regulation" that applies to your company, the "Requirement" it leads to, your company data as "Data field", every "Template", and your documents as "Document", "Policy" or "Process". Which regulations apply is decided from your company profile (country and legal form) and your products.

Click a node to see its connections grouped by relation, for example "Depends on", "Basis for", "Needs data", "Evidenced by", "Fulfilled by", "Refers to" and "Comes from", and the documents behind it. The graph stores only references, never the text of a law or a document: the original is fetched when you open it.

Who can use this

  • Every member with a built in role: Owner, Admin, Accountant, Sales, Purchase, HR Manager, Employee, Viewer and Compliance
  • Linking evidence and rebuilding: Owner, Admin and Accountant

Steps

  1. 1. Find a node

    Type in "Search the graph" or use the chips under "Filter by type". Each chip shows how many nodes of that type exist.

  2. 2. Open a node

    Click a node in the list. The panel on the right shows its connections and its "Documents". Click a connected node to move on.

  3. 3. Read the original document

    Click a document or an evidence quote. The document opens page by page; use "All" or a page number. "Open original" opens the file itself.

  4. 4. Link a document as evidence

    On a requirement, use "Link a document as evidence": enter the "Document" reference, optionally the "Page", a "Quote" and a "Note", and click "Link". The quote must appear word for word on the page.

  5. 5. Rebuild

    Click "Rebuild" to update the graph now.

Fields and options

Regulation

A law or rule that applies to your company, for example § 257 HGB. "Live from the compliance database" marks parts that are read live.

Requirement

What a regulation asks of you, for example that the annual financial statements are prepared.

Data field

One piece of company data, for example the company name or a product price.

Template

A document template and the data fields it needs.

Document, Policy, Process

Your files, Company Memory documents and wiki pages that the whole company may see.

Tips

  • Links from other pages open the right node: a check result opens the cited document at its page.

Good to know

  • The graph is updated every night and whenever company data changes, for example a new product or a changed price.
  • You see a node only when you may see its source. A document in a private space stays hidden from everyone else, also in the Advisor company graph and in Brain answers. A connection is shown only when you may see both ends.
  • Without a connected compliance database you see "Compliance database not connected": the graph then shows your templates, data fields and documents, and regulations and requirements appear once it is connected.
