Legal basis and consent
Document the reason to call (§7 UWG) and record express consent for email.
In Germany a sales call needs a documented, concrete reason (§7 UWG). BizCortex refuses every call to a contact without a valid legal basis. The entries in the card "Legal basis (§7 UWG)" on the contact page are your evidence file. They must be specific and defensible in a dispute.
An email consent is separate. It is recorded in the Pipeline card or the Follow up card of the contact, and it never makes a phone number callable.

Who can use this
- Owner
- Administrator
- Sales
- Compliance (audit only)
Steps
1. Document a reason
On the contact page, in the card "Legal basis (§7 UWG)", click "Document a reason". Choose the type and what it applies to (Phone, Email, or Phone and email), write the reason to call and save.
2. Record express consent
For express consent you must also enter the consent ID, the exact wording, the opt in time and the source. If anything is missing, the entry shows "§7a documentation incomplete".
3. Record email consent
In the Pipeline card or the Follow up card, click "Record consent". Only do this if the person gave express consent. Enter the wording, the source and the date. A consent needs an email address on the contact.
Fields and options
- Type
"Presumed consent (B2B, §7(2)(1) UWG)", "Express consent (§7a UWG)" or "Existing customer".
- Applies to
Phone, Email, or Phone and email. "Email only" does not make the number callable.
- Reason to call
Concrete and specific to the person, at least 20 characters. "Publicly listed number" is not enough.
- Valid until (optional)
After this date the record no longer counts.
Good to know
- Missing or faulty §7a documentation for express consent carries a fine of up to €50,000.
- Consent evidence is kept for five years and is not deleted by the nightly purge.
- Removing a legal basis record needs the CRM legal basis admin permission (Owner, Administrator, Compliance).
